Barcode Generator

Free barcode generator. Create EAN-13, UPC-A and Code 128 barcodes with check-digit validation, live preview and crisp PNG or vector SVG download for print.

About the Barcode Generator

A barcode generator that produces real, scannable EAN-13, UPC-A and Code 128 barcodes in your browser — with genuine Modulo-10 check-digit validation for EAN/UPC (invalid numbers are never encoded), live preview, and PNG or vector SVG export.

EAN-13, UPC-A and Code 128 are the everyday identifiers of retail packaging, product labels and shipping. This generator produces real, scannable barcodes in your browser — not placeholder images — with genuine validation for each format: EAN-13 and UPC-A check digits are calculated per their official Modulo-10 algorithms, so an invalid number is never encoded.

Paste a 12-digit base into EAN-13 and the 13th check digit is calculated for you, or enter a complete 13-digit value and the supplied check digit is verified. UPC-A works the same way with 11/12 digits. Leading zeros are preserved exactly — barcode values are handled as strings, never truncated numbers. Code 128 accepts the full printable ASCII set for product IDs, serials and internal labels. The “Generate New” workflow turns a product record (name, SKU, brand, price, batch, expiry and more) into a full set of ready-to-print labels, with your choice of the same barcode on every package or a unique serial per label.

Every code renders instantly as a live preview. Choose PNG for a high-resolution raster or SVG for a fully vector file that scales to any print size without losing sharpness — both carry the real generated barcode with proper quiet zones and strong black-on-white contrast, ready for product packaging and labels. A note on numbers: this tool renders and validates identifiers, but generating a barcode does not assign or register an official GS1 product number — for commercial packaging, use a product number properly assigned to your business.

How to use the Barcode Generator

  1. Choose a barcode type: EAN-13, UPC-A or Code 128.
  2. Enter the value — EAN-13 needs 12 digits (the 13th check digit is calculated for you), UPC-A needs 11, Code 128 takes any printable ASCII.
  3. The tool validates the check digit and rejects invalid numbers before encoding.
  4. Generate a live preview of the barcode.
  5. Download as PNG or SVG and place it on packaging or labels with good contrast and quiet zones.

Worked example

Enter "123456789012" for an EAN-13 barcode, and the tool will automatically calculate the 13th check digit.

Frequently asked questions

Do you assign real product numbers?
No. The tool validates a number and renders its barcode, but a valid check digit does not mean the number is registered with GS1. For commercial packaging use a company prefix and product number properly assigned to your business.
What is the EAN-13 check digit?
The 13th digit is computed from the first 12 with a Modulo-10 algorithm. Enter 12 digits and the tool adds it for you, or enter all 13 and the supplied final digit is verified against the calculation — invalid inputs are rejected, never encoded.
Why does my UPC-A need 12 digits?
UPC-A is 12 digits including check digit. Enter 11 and the 12th is calculated; enter 12 and the last digit is verified. Leading zeros are preserved — an all-zero or zero-led value is kept exactly as typed.
What characters can Code 128 encode?
The full printable ASCII set — uppercase, lowercase, digits, common punctuation and spaces. It is ideal for product IDs, serial numbers and internal tracking codes, and handles longer values than EAN/UPC numeric codes.
Is my content uploaded anywhere?
No — everything runs entirely in your browser. The value you encode never leaves your device.
