Add Page Numbers to PDF

A multi-page report, contract or manual without page numbers is harder to navigate, harder to reference in a meeting ("see page 12" only works if pages are numbered), and looks unfinished. This tool adds numbers to every page of a PDF in one pass, with the position and starting number you choose.

Pick bottom-centre (the most common convention for formal documents), bottom-right, or top-right, and set the starting number if the first page shouldn't be "1" — useful when a cover page or table of contents precedes the numbered content and you want numbering to begin at the first real page, or when this PDF is a continuation of another document.

Numbers are added as new text on each page without altering any existing content underneath, so nothing already on the page is affected. As with the rest of this toolset, the whole operation happens in your browser — the document is never uploaded to add something as simple as page numbers.

This is usually one of the last steps before a document ships — after pages are merged, reordered and trimmed to their final sequence, numbering makes the result easy to navigate and reference. Run it right before you send the file, since renumbering after adding or removing pages later would shift everything that follows.
